The Tennessee Air National Guard works with the United States Air Force
and National Guard Bureau to deploy and conduct operations throughout the world.

Headquarters Tennessee Air National Guard is the senior staff, directly responsible to
and acting on behalf of the Adjutant General, providing evaluations, issuing resolutions,
action recommendations, and command and control of the State's units.

Brig. Gen. (Sel.) Don Johnson currently serves as the
Assistant Adjutant General, Air for Tennessee.

Tennessee distinctively has three flying wings and four
geographically seperated units in the Volunteer State.

	The 118th Airlift Wing in Nashville is the International Training Center for Allied C-130 Hercules crews from around the world. The 236th Intelligence Squadron falls under the 118th AW. 118th Web site
	The 134th Air Refueling Wing in Knoxville, flying the KC-135 Stratotanker, provides the core aerial refueling capability for the United State Air Force and supports refueling operations throughout the world. 134th Web site
	The 164th Airlift Wing in Memphis, flies the C-5 Galaxy, a heavy logistics military transport aircraft designed to provide world-wide massive strategic airlift. 164th Web site
	The 119th Command and Control Squadron is an enthusiastic team of highly skilled professionals who provide training, standardization and evaluation for Satellite Communication and Information System Operators.
	The 228th Combat Communications Squadron is a tactical communications unit that is theater-deployable anywhere in the world at any time.
	The 241st Engineering and Installation Squadron mobilizes small detachments of Airmen to deploy alone or with other U.S. Military units. They set up cabling that connects communications, computers, engineering, air traffic control and landing systems at installations worldwide.
	The "Air National Guard Band of the Smokey Mountains", part of the 572nd Air Force Band, is well known for its outstanding musical talent and outstanding performances. The band is based in Knoxville at the McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base.
