Colonel Patricia Jones is the Commander, 30th Troop Command, Tennessee Army National Guard. She is responsible for the training, readiness and welfare of the more than 2,400 Soldiers in the Brigade. The 30th Troop Command consists of the 117th Military Police Battalion, the 168th Military Police Battalion and the 1/230th Air Cavalry Squadron.
Colonel Jones was born in Mattoon, IL on 28 Dec 1962 and raised in Humboldt, Tennessee. She received a Reserve Army Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1984, and subsequently graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in December 1988. Colonel Jones assumed Command of 30th Troop Command on 4 April 2009.
Key assignments have included Commander, 269th MP Company (deployed Operation Desert Storm), Dyersburg, Tennessee; Supply Officer, 194th EN BDE, Jackson Tennessee; Logistic Officer, 30th Separate Armor BDE, Jackson, Tennessee, Supply Management Officer, HQ STARC, Nashville, Tennessee; S3, and Executive Officer, (deployed Operation Iraqi Freedom) 168th MP Battalion, Lebanon, Tennessee. She Commanded the 168th Military Police Battalion Jan 2005 to May 2007. During this tour the Battalion deployed in support of disaster relief on two occasions; Hurricane Katrina and the tornadoes in Tennessee. The Battalion was the first TNARNG unit to conduct the security of the south west border mission. She began her full time occupation as a GS dual status Technician in 1990. Her concentration is within the Logistical Community (USPFO and DOL) as well as Military Police as an Administrative Officer. Her current position is Director of Human Resources, JFHQ Tennessee Army National Guard. She also serves as the Commander, 30th Troop Command, Tennessee Army National Guard.
Colonel Jones has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University. Her military education includes the MP Officer Basic Course, the Combine Logistics Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Services Staff School, and the Command and General Staff Officers Course.
Colonel Jones’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), National Defense Service Medal (OLC), Army Achievement Medal (OLC), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (2 and M device), Southwest Asia Service Medal (2BSS), GWOT-E, GWOT-S, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Medal (OLC), Humanitarian Service Medal, Saudi Kuwait Liberation Medal, Army Reserves Component achievement Medal (5 OLC), CAB, Airborne Wings and Valorous Unit Award.
Colonel Jones is married to Dean Jones and they have three children; Joshua, Julia and Nicholas. The family resides in Kingston Springs, Tennessee.
