Yellow Ribbon Program

What is the Yellow Ribbon Program?
The Yellow Ribbon Program was established by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008, Section 582, which required the National Guard and Reserve Forces to establish a national combat veteran reintegration program.

What’s in the Yellow Ribbon Program for me?
The Yellow Ribbon Program provides deployment cycle support for service members and their families by hosting 3 types of events- Pre-Deployment, During Deployment, and Reintegration (at the 30, 60, and 90 day marks post deployment).  These events serve as a gateway to resources available to the service members and their families.  These resources include but are not limited to: TriCare, Military One Source, Military Family Life Consultants, Personal Financial Counselor, Director of Psychological Health, Chaplain services, Transitional Assistance Advisor, Operation: Military Kids, Youth Programs, Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve, Education, Red Cross Support, Universities, etc.

What can I expect at these events?

Our Pre-Deployment events occur 30-60 days
prior to mobilization and are open to servicemembers
and their families.

Our During Deployment events occur anywhere between
mid-mobilization and 30 day prior to the unit returning home.
This event is open to families only.

Our 30, 60, and 90 day reintegration events occur at those marks after the unit has come off Title 10 orders.  The 30 and 60 day events are open to service members and their families.  The 90 day event is service member only and is designed to conduct the PDHRA and any other last Medical Command driven documentation.

Yellow Ribbon provides meals and
licensed childcare providers at all events.

Yellow Ribbon may provide mileage reimbursement for up to two (2) authorized family members per service member.  Authorized family members entitled to reimbursements include: parents, spouses, and children.  The authorized family member must travel over 50 miles (one way), from Home of Record to event location, in order to qualify for reimbursement.  These same authorized family members (up to 2) are also eligible for one night’s lodging reimbursements at some events.  These reimbursements will be conducted after the event.  A travel voucher (Form 1351-2) will be completed at the event.  Please be sure to bring a voided check/account information for reimbursements to be processed.
