Community Support Overview

The Tennessee National Guard Community Relations Division welcomes the opportunity to connect our communities with the mission and capabilities of the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard. We are pleased to offer the resources for the American public to request flyovers, military bands, color/honor guards, exhibit displays and speakers.

Aviation Requests
The Tennessee National Guard offers aviation support such as: flyovers andstatic displays to eligible events from air shows to professional sporting events.

Non-Aviations Requests
The Department of Defense is able to support broad based civic organizations or organizations whose primary purpose is to stimulate patriotism, promote public understanding of the necessity of national security, or foster public appreciation of our national heritage, and not promote the organization’s private objectives. All events must be open to the entire community. The event must not promote the partisan, fraternal or commercial objectives of the organization itself.

Department of Defense regulations and policies require that participation in community events will be provided on a non-interference basis to the military mission at no additional cost to the U.S. Government.

National Guard Bands
Military bands are used for official ceremonial events and in support of troop morale and recruiting purposes. Military bands may also be used in support of certain community events that are patriotic in nature.

Color Guard Support
Color/Honor Guards may be requested to support community events, especially those of a patriotic nature.

Requests for Speakers
National Guard, Army and Air Force Speakers Bureaus attempt to provide speakers to community organizations
that have an interest in learning about the National Guard, Army or Air Force. Speakers are prohibited from
participating in fundraising, marketing or commercial events, from taking part in partisan political activity and
from accepting fees or honoraria.
